'Sets serious standards and deserves all the company it can get' - TIME OUT

Company

Performed at the Greenwich Playhouse July 2000

Company - Performed by the Galleon Theatre CompanyGalleon Theatre Company's irresistible production of Company was an unmissable celebration of Sondheim's brilliance and of his 70th birthday. Sondheim's 'incisive' musical play explored the dichotomy between one's need for companionship and the pursuit of freedom and independence. The institution of marriage was portrayed with all its complexities, sexual liaisons are amusingly shown in all their diversity. And the result was a moving and profoundly relevant study of human relationships.

Thirty years on and Company continues thrill, challenge and always entertain.

Reviews from the transfered production:

Company - Performed by the Galleon Theatre Company'But if Company is typical of the Galleon Theatre Company's quality of production then The Palace Theatre should be urged to stage many more of the same' - The Observer

'Alice de Sousa's bright production helps the lively lyrics point our real social tensions underneath the fun. Drugs, divorce, gay relationships - all have a contemporary feel, in a show that was written - surprisingly - 30 years ago.' - Times

'The fourteen person cast, with bounding voices and magnificient talent, almost seemed to envelop the audience.' - Courier
